The Sudanese Human Rights Monitor (SHRM) is non-governmental organization (NGO) established in 2005 and registered under the Humanitarian Aid Commission in Sudan (HAC). SHRM scope of work focuses on protection, promotion and advocacy for human rights in Sudan. Since its establishment, SHRM has contributed to the human rights field in Sudan through wide range of activities such as monitoring and documentation for human rights violations, capacity building for CSOs and human rights defenders, protection and advocacy for human rights defenders, in addition to conducting researches and studies in thematic areas of human rights.
Advocate for respect to human rights and its fundamental freedoms in Sudan as well as guaranteeing them for all citizens residing on its lands in accordance with what is set forth in international covenants and relevant charters of economic, political, social and cultural human rights.
SHRM brings together in its membership number human rights defenders and academics contributed to human rights field in Sudan since 1986. SHRM is member of number of national, regional and international human rights network, such as the confederation of the Sudanese civil Society Organizations (CSCSO), Arab Organization for Human Rights, and International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) and many others.
