About us
The Sudanese Human Rights Monitor (SHRM) is a non-governmental organization (NGO) established in 2005 and registered under the Humanitarian Aid Commission in Sudan (HAC). SHRM’s scope of work focuses on protection, promotion, and advocacy for human rights in Sudan. Since its establishment, SHRM has contributed to the human rights field in Sudan through a wide range of activities such as monitoring and documentation for human rights violations, capacity building for CSOs and human rights defenders, protection and advocacy for human rights defenders, in addition to conducting researches and studies in thematic areas of human rights.
SHRM’s membership includes human rights defenders and academics who have contributed to the human rights field in Sudan since 1986. SHRM is a member of several national, regional, and international human rights networks, such as the Confederation of the Sudanese Civil Society Organizations (CSCSO), the Arab Organization for Human Rights, and the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH), among many others.

We envision a Sudan where human rights and the rule of law are upheld and where all individuals enjoy their fundamental rights within a framework of justice and equality in accordance with international standards.
Mission Statement
Our mission is to protect, promote, and advocate for human rights in Sudan without discrimination in accordance with international standards. We are committed to supporting human rights defenders (women and men) while working towards building a just society where rights are respected and the rule of law prevails.
